Prepare your hiking boots, take some sun block, you’re on for a jungle discovery.
After an early breakfast, our boat will take you around 7am to Tatai to meet your guide. From his childhood, he was one of the bests on doing what everybody could do at that time to survive… logging and poaching. Reconverted recently into tour guide, rare will be your question he can’t answer about the Cardamoms’ jungle.
A short briefing and you’ll depart for a soft but challenging discovery riding the bike behind your experienced driver or as a car passenger.
When deep enough in the forest, the vehicles will be left at rest and the boys will guide you on your trek. Be assured, at the smallest sign of wildlife trace or presence you’ll be notified.
On your return to the transport you’ll continue for about 30 minutes to reach the mighty waterfall of Thmo Baeng, the ideal place for a rest, a swim and a good lunch.
Back with your transport you’ll head to Thmo Baeng, a remote village deep in the jungle. Its inhabitants are shy and unaccustomed to visitors, but they will nevertheless be happy to receive and welcome you into their homes.
Although poaching and logging were the mainstays of their lives, they have been tutored in growing peppers, bananas, rambutan, durian, pomello, oranges and milk fruit. They have taken eagerly to their new agricultural lifestyle and will proudly show off their crops until it’s time for you to leave to be back in Tatai before dark.
Around 5:30pm our boat will pick you up in Tatai so you can regain the comfort of your tent and have a hot shower before dinner.
